BEST NOODLES THIS SIDE OF ASIA
Here I am in Washington D.C. for a conference with Film Professors and a friend takes me to a noodle shop in Chinatown. But Chinatown is not what it once was, most of the places aren’t really “Chinese” anymore – and less authentic than it once was. It’s now become a youngsters’ hangout. But lo and behold in the middle of the hustle-bustle is an authentic Noodle shop and it’s the real deal. The noodles are handmade – that is to say, they are hand-pulled and the dumplings are individually folded. in fact, you can watch through the front window to see them being made.
There is nothing fancy about this place but it is like eating in Asia. The chicken soup with noodles I had was better than anything I had while living in Asia actually – I kid you not. In fact, I now keep having dreams of eating here again. I read some negative reviews on Yelp – complaining about the service but my service was just fine – she wasn’t the happiest camper but we didn’t come there for her, we came for the noodles and broth. I wasn’t disappointed.
